LitiArts offers a range of programs designed to affirm youth identities and support their well-being through equitable and accessible literacy and arts education. Here are our key initiatives:

Literacy-Arts Partnerships for Youth

We collaborate with schools and community organizations to integrate literacy with the arts, delivering an anti-racist, equitable, and socio-emotional approach to K-8 education. Our programs include:

  • Creative Writing Workshops: Encouraging self-expression and storytelling.
  • Book Clubs & Reading Circles: Fostering a love for reading and discussion.
  • Artistic Explorations in Reading: Combining visual arts with literary analysis.
  • Literacy & Arts Summer Camps: Immersive experiences blending learning and creativity.
  • Multimedia Storytelling: Utilizing various media to tell compelling stories.
  • Literacy Through Music: Integrating musical elements to enhance literacy skills.

These programs are tailored to meet the specific needs and interests of the students we serve.

Virtual College & Career Preparation Fellowship Program

Designed for first-generation high school juniors and seniors of color, this program offers:

  • 1:1 Mentorship: Personalized guidance through the college application process, including college selection and personal statement development.
  • Identity-Affirming & Socioemotional Activities: Sessions that build confidence and address cultural and socioeconomic challenges related to college preparation.
  • Monthly Community Gatherings: Workshops covering topics like financial aid, scholarships, and effective communication, fostering a sense of community among participants.

Our holistic approach ensures students are academically prepared and emotionally supported during their transition to higher education.

Seattle Girls & Nonbinary Youth Book Circles

In partnership with the Seattle Public Library, we offer book circles specifically for Black and Brown girls and nonbinary youth in Seattle’s Rainier Beach community. This initiative emphasizes:

  • Self-Expression: Providing platforms for youth to share their stories and perspectives.
  • Community Building: Creating supportive networks among participants.
  • Personal Growth: Encouraging exploration of identity through literature and art.

Our curricula are guided by the interests and lived experiences of the participants, ensuring relevance and engagement.

Annual Art Gala & Fundraiser

Each year, we host a gala that brings together students, families, community members, and donors to:

  • Celebrate Achievements: Showcasing the work and progress of our youth participants.
  • Raise Support: Generating funds to sustain and expand our programs.
  • Foster Connections: Building relationships among stakeholders committed to educational equity.

This event highlights the transformative power of combining literacy and the arts in youth development.
